Cynthia B. Almonte
Cynthia Almonte is a highly trained manual and scoliosis physical therapist with over 27 years of experience in orthopedic and spine related injuries. She attended Physical Therapy School at Hogeschool van Amsterdam, The Netherlands, graduating in 1997. It was then that she was first introduced to the Schroth Method as well as manual therapy techniques used to treat scoliosis and other orthopedic injuries. After graduating, she continued her education by pursuing multiple courses from several world renowned practitioners including Stanley Paris, Geoffrey Maitland, Brian Mulligan, Diane Lee, and others. She became a Certified Functional Manual Therapist through the Institute of Physical Art in 2007 and spent the next 7 years building her private practice in Vermont, focusing on spine related injuries. During this time she volunteered with a non-profit organization named Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine, traveling to Africa twice a year with a team of volunteer scoliosis surgeons who performed surgery on patients with up to 100 degree curves. Because of this experience she developed a strong interest in the field of scoliosis and became a Basic Level 1 (C1) certified Schroth therapist in 2015 then an Advanced Level 2 (C2) Certified SchrothTM Therapist in 2016 through the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School specializing in the treatment of patients with scoliosis. She and her family moved to southern California and she opened her private practice in 2016 focusing solely on the treatment of scoliosis. Her practice continues to grow serving people with scoliosis both locally and online.
Being raised in Africa and having lived in 4 different continents, Cynthia’s exposure to diversity has been the foundation for her philosophy on life and wellness. She is a firm believer in the body’s ability to create change at a cellular level if provided with the right environment including correct exercises and a positive mindset. She and her husband, both black belts in Jiu-jitsu reside in Riverside, California with their 10 year old son. Together they also own a Brazilian jiu-jitsu Academy in Corona, California.
